With the increasing importance of integrated advanced technology in the medical device sector, Welwyn has transferred expertise and engineering precision from defence market offerings, to become a premier supplier to manufacturers of systems, such as ECG, ultrasonic monitors and other diagnostic equipment.

Design engineers working on high voltage power supplies in medical X ray equipments rely upon specialised application resistors to achieve accuracy in measurement and control of the accelerating potential. Welwyn have several solutions that supply working voltages of up to 100Kv, allowing cost effective levels of reliability, with custom thick film planar and the well-established T series technology.

For defibrillation pulses, Welwyn can offer both low (470R - 2K2) and high (68R - 100K) resistance products. Firstly, the CCR series, provides more than eight times the pulse handling of equipment body size replaces traditional carbon composition
resistors, which are almost unavailable across world markets. Secondly, the series of power surface mount resistors (PWC Series) offer 50% more power than a conventional 2512 chip.

Amplification circuits rely on resistors with higher than normal precision or value to achieve sensitive detection of small signals. Welwyn can provide the engineer with five families of resistor to cater for MRI scanner, ECG monitor and electron microscopy applications - these are the RC, HR, HVC, PCR and PCF series.

Welwyn also manufactures a wide range of current sense resistors to provide enhanced motor control performance in blood transfusion equipment and laboratory pumps.
